Seedlings

Have you ever looked up the ingredients in the products you use on your babies and kids? I bet it would shock you what some companies put into their “safe and natural” products.

Seedlings is the newest line of products especially made for babies, kids can use it too! It has truly natural and safe ingredients, no harsh or toxic chemicals. What products can you find in this line? Wipes, diaper rash cream, shampoo and body wash, baby oil and more!

I absolutely love using this line on my daughter (6months old), and son who has really sensitive skin. Try it today! https://www.youngliving.com/vo/#/signup/new-start?sponsorid=1436532&enrollerid=1436532&isocountrycode=US&culture=en-US&type=member

So there’s something new that Walmart near me offers that I used right after I had Brianna. While it might not be my favorite place in the world to go to, it’s close to my house and has some good prices.

They now have a grocery service where you order and pay online and once you arrive at the store, park in a special spot. You let them know you’re there using your smart phone and they bring the order to your car and put in your trunk for you! (It sounds more complicated than it is.)

The reasons I used this after having Brianna was 1:I didn’t want to bring a newborn into Walmart, 2: I just had a c section and wasn’t able to walk very far, including a huge store like Walmart. 3: I didn’t want to deal with 2 kids in the store when I just needed some essentials. 4: I had a good coupon!

So here’s a coupon you can use for $10 off your first order: http://r.wmt.co/h3DfD

Hope you find it as useful as I did!

I’m “that Mom”

Yeah,  I’m “that Mom”.

I’m the mom who tries to buy organic, non-gmo foods. The one who tries to limit fake food coloring, and tries to get more natural ones instead. One who will reach for the whole grain item first instead of white processed. One who uses essential oils and tries natural home remedies.

I’m the mom who tried to have an all natural birth (twice).  I’m the mom who exclusively breastfeeds her babies until they self wean. I’m the one who nurses on demand. I am the one who nurses when ever and wherever it’s needed. I’m the mom who uses cloth diapers.

I’m the mom who’s babies sleep in the same room as her. I’m the mom who doesn’t use cry it out, or sleep training. I’m the mom who’s kid is still rear facing at 3.5 years old in the car.

I’m the mom who doesn’t spank or hit as punishment. I’m the mom who talks out tantrums.

I’m the mom who wants as many kids as I can have. I’m the mom who wants to keep them close and home with me as long as possible. I’m the mom who chose to stay home with my kids to raise them.

BUT, I’m also the mom who buys lucky charms on occasion, and a happy meal here and there. The one who uses essential oils but did her research and will only use Young Living. I’m the mom who uses modern medicine as well. I’m the mom who vaccinates her children.

I’m also the mom who tried natural birth, but went in with the attitude of having a healthy, happy baby and mom is more important than no meds/or interventions if needed. I’m the mom who nurses, but also supplemented with formula for 3 months with my son. I’m the mom who nurses where ever, but usually uses a cover, sometimes not. I’m the mom who uses cloth diapers and pampers, or huggies.

I’m the mom who’s babies sleep in the same room, because it’s easier to nurse on demand. I’m the mom who would rather pick up her crying baby than do cry it out. I’m the mom who has never turned her sons car seat around and doesn’t plan to until he reaches the maximum height/weight.

I’m also the mom who doesn’t spank, but hasn’t always been as understanding as I should have been in the moment. I’m the mom who has yelled at my naughty toddler.

I’m the mom who wants a whole baseball team of kids but with secondary infertility and  2 c sections, am limited. I’m the mom who wants to teach my kids to be independent and do things on their own. I’m the mom who chose to stay home with my kids, but also works from home. I’m the mom who loves the most important job I’ve ever had, but sometimes needs a break.

I’m the BEST mom.

For MY kids. I’m not always right, but I try everyday.

Yeah, I’m “that mom”, and I’m damn proud of it.

Hugging the tanatrum away

Like a normal 3.5 year old, our son Rocco has had some major temper tantrums. I mean…whole body shaking, fists of fury, foot stomping, room destroying tantrums. I admit, I’ve had my moments of weakness where I’ve yelled or spanked him. And you know what? That doesn’t work, it just doesn’t. He also isn’t going to learn anything from his behavior other than mommy gets angry and yells when I act like this. That doesn’t help anyone.

What I have decided to do was change my mindset and realize that he’s still so little and can’t express how he’s feeling. He needs understanding and reassurance. So what I do now is pick him up and just hug him. I instantly feel the tension letting go and he just lays in my arms and cries. Then I sit down with him and we quietly talk about what’s going on, how to fix it and why we don’t do whatever it is he was doing wrong(if he was doing something wrong). Do I still have my moments when I get mad and yell? Yes, yes I do. Am I trying hard everyday to change how I react to his tantrums? Yes, with everything I have.

This may or may not be the right parenting move for you because clearly, I’m no expert. I’m just a tired, have had it up to “here” mom who was looking for a better way. So far I think I’ve found it.
